On October 26, 2020 at approximately 7:57 a.m. Calvert Country Sheriff's Office patrol units were dispatched to a 911 call for a burglary in progress in Port Republic. Two police units were traveling eastbound when one Sheriff's Cruiser took the curve and lost control of her vehicle. The cruiser then struck a Toyota Sienna Van. Driver of said Toyota was April Lee Lyons, 38 of Port Republic, Maryland. Both were transported to Prince George's Hospital Center, Trauma Unit and are in critical, but stable condition.

This morning, October 30, 2020 - Firefighters, along with The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office took part in a surprise birthday drive-by parade for 11-year-old Ryan Lyons, son of April Lyons.

Ryan’s mother, April Long is still currently in Prince George’s Hospital Center Trauma Unit.

Happy Birthday Ryan!
